Remember that one time I visited the Rhode Island Zoo just to mark Rhode Island off my “states visited bucket list?” Well, I did and I have pictures to prove it!
The Plan
My oldest friend and I made plans that for our 20th “friendaversary” I was going to come back to New England and visit her. Then covid happened and squashed our plans. So we rescheduled it and the following October I went and luckily my bestie has the same sense of adventure that I do. When I asked if we could dip down to Rhode Island so I could check the last state I had East of the continental divide off my bucket list, she said yes!

Originally we had an airbnb and a whole thing planned but we ended up changing plans at the last minute because her friends band got booked to play the Salem Witches Ball so we pivoted and did that instead. It meant that we literally drove to Providence for a day trip so I could say I stepped foot in Rhode Island and then drove back to Boston to pack up the airbnb in Medford so we could go to the new airbnb we booked in Salem (the one in New Hampshire oddly and not the one in Massachusetts).
The Zoo
The “Rhode Island Zoo” is actually called Roger Williams Park Zoo and while we were there they were having their Jack-O-Lantern Spectacular, which was absolutely amazing. I was so glad that we got to go during that time.

The Memories
About this time next year I will be back in New England but this time I will be traveling with my partner who has never been and we will be going for my best friend’s wedding. I am hoping that I can get him to do a lot more tourist trap stuff with me but obviously I will want to spend a lot of time with her and do some fun stuff with her too.
It will be interesting to see what kind of historical stuff my partner wants to see when we plan this trip and how much I can be a tour guide in addition to learning new stuff myself. I want to show him where I lived and the things I did but I also want to see new things too.
