The Castle That Grief Built

I cannot talk about unique accommodations’ to Stop and Stay in Lincoln Nebraska without talking about the castle. There is a man who claims that his dead wife comes to him in dreams and told him how to build a house and what changes to make, etc. So he did it mostly by himself, but also with the help of his son. The house is actually very beautiful and very large and you can absolutely rent it out on Vrbo. I don’t think you can camp there, but there is a roof top deck. Not sure how they would feel about you pitching a tent, but you could ask.

The whole story of how this came to be is on there and it’s a wild ride:

The castle came to me in a dream while I was chatting with my late wife, Jennifer Faustman. Sadly, she passed away in 2014 just after childbirth. She has visited my dreams regularly and guided me thru dreams ever since she passed away.

Actually, our life is full of divine intervention so much that we started a “JENI FACTOR” folder on my computer to document all of the impossibly perfect outcomes through the construction process. We look forward to sharing and displaying all the work Jeni did from above.

It took me 5 years to finish it with no bank assistance or a labor force. I’m especially thankful I had already mastered every trade and had a degree that taught me the science of every construction topic. It’s absolutely gorgeous here, NOTHING is normal, yet it all comes together perfectly.

My AWESOME mom and my little MINI 8yr old castle builder were the only laborers available to help me, so I kicked ass, working long hours all day every day for 5 years…

Of course I saved some pictures because if the ad ever gets taken down I want this saved for posterity. I want to known that I am not making fun of this at all. We should absolutely be here for the memorial castle. I am an absolute hopeless romantic nutcase who would build a house in memoriam out of grief too.
