Here’s a little personal and sentimental post for you guys to enjoy. This past weekend my partner and I celebrated our one year anniversary. It’s a big deal because he had not ever been in a relationship this long and I haven’t been in a relationship that lasted this long in awhile!
The Cottonwood Hotel
We did a stay-cation at the Cottonwood Hotel and let me just tell you that it was amazing. When we got to the room Boyfriend had somehow made sure there were flowers in the room for me. It had a card with our combined names – I make a joke that if we get married we can each swap out one letter of our last name for one from the other and we could be “The Beacons!” So it said, “Mrs. Beacon” on it.
He also included this cute red panda stuffed animal that you can put in the microwave and heat up because he knows I love raccoons and it looks like a raccoon. I also often share this GIF with him of a red panda jumping up in the air to try and make itself appear bigger to animals to scare them away but it’s really just a red panda jumping into some snow. It’s got a permanent home right by my bed now.
Activities
Since it’s July we spend some time by the pool and of course in our lovely hotel room. It had a huge bathroom with a shower and a big bath tub that could fit two people in it. Don’t ask how I know that, just use your imagination.
We dressed up and went out to a fancy dinner at Yoshimoto and I tried stuff I would not have tried before. I ate some sushi that had Fluke and another with Waygu beef but we both said our favorite was this vegan sushi roll that had citrus and tomato paste – it was so good! We know if we ever go back we each want our own roll of that. He had some of his favorite and I customized a roll to be a California roll so I had something to eat. It was just a really good meal.
MORE PHOTOS FROM THE HOTEL

While the Cottonwood Hotel is pet friendly (check the door hangar above) we just stayed the one night because I didn’t want to leave the pup alone for too long. Since it was a staycation we didn’t really need to be gone for that long anyways. It helps that our anniversary is so close to 4th of July that we end up just getting a really long weekend anyways.
We had a really nice breakfast at the Orleans room before we left to go back to our own respective places and then it was unfortunately back to work. Next year we have his family reunion so we are going to be going away for that so I’ll be needing ideas for our three year anniversary.
What fun things have you done with your partner for your anniversary?
