Gifts for Nomadic Travelers

1. Travel Clothes Line

If your nomadic travelers doesn’t already have a travel clothes line, get this for them and they will love you for it. This one comes with a compact case to store it in while it is not in use.

2. Sleeping Bag Liner

An easy gift for the nomadic travelers in your life would be something for their sleeping bag! Most car campers who don’t have a heater use a sleeping bag. It can be easy to sweat in there and make your sleeping bag stink! So get yourself a sleeping bag liner and it’ll help absorb the extra moisture.

3. Collapsible Cook Pot

When space is at a premium, you definitely want to get anything space saving. A collapsible cookpot is an ideal gift! This one also has the ability to strain via the lid so you won’t need a strainer. Just be wary of the steam and make sure you have a good grip on the lid. The “campwolf” tab in the middle pops up and allows you to hold it in place but you have to tilt with one hand.

4. Cutting Board + Dish Tub Combo

In addition to space saving, if something has a double duty, that’s even better. With a dish tub and cutting board combo, you can wash your fruits and veggie in the tub and then you simply press everything down and then use it as a cutting board! That means there are two items taking up the space of one. This one also has a space for knives and other blades like shredding versus slicing in the cutting board itself making it that much more utilitarian!

5. Gel Mounting Squares

If you don’t want things sliding around on your cabinets or shelves you need to anchor them. I used Gel Mounting Squares that are made of acrylic material and coated on both sides with transparent waterproof adhesive. I used these to keep some things from moving around on my cabinets on “moving days” so I didn’t have to store absolutely everything. They are easy to apply, have a pretty good grip and are easy to remove with some heat and they don’t leave any residue.
NOTE: These will not stick to painted or textured walls. It says that in the listing and if you check the 1 star reviews all of the photos show people trying to stick things to walls that are clearly painted.

6. Ear Buds

These Beats Ear Buds are perfect for you to give as a stocking stuffer or birthday gift for your nomadic traveler. Campers, Cars and tents especially are not good at keeping sound in or blocking outside noises out. These are perfect to listen to music on the trail, during their morning meditation while their coffee brews or to clean their tiny space without disrupting the peace around them.

7. Double Person Sleeping Bag

If your nomadic traveler is a solo traveler they may not have room for a super large bed but the one upgrade that I’m so glad I splurged on was a double person sleeping bag! I have a 65 lb dog who likes to burrow under the covers with me when we sleep. Trying to fit two of us in a single person sleeping bag was not working so I would inevitably just double up on blankets. Don’t get me wrong, I love blankets, but when you’ve got 5 of them piled on the bed, it just makes the place feel cluttered no matter what.

8. Rechargeable Hand Warmers

It’s really hard to stay warm in the winter months. Even if you’re in the south, if you’re in the desert it gets cold enough at night that you can freeze to death. At high elevations, even in the dead of summer, there can be snow. I was in Wyoming in June and woke up to find my camper and car covered in snow. The best thing I found was these hand warmers to put in your pockets for those cool morning hikes or lonely winter nights. Alternatively, if you’re like me and your feet get cold more often than your hands you can use these Toe Warmers in your shoes or slippers.

9. 5 Gallon / 20 Liter Solar Camping Shower

Give the gift your nomadic travelers spend time and money looking for by gifting them an outdoor shower! Technically, you could bring it inside and stand in a plastic tote to catch the water if it’s winter time out. A lot of people heat their water on the stove or a campfire but in the summer just hang it in an area where there is a lot of sun and in about 3 hours.

10. Camping Hammock

UPDATE July 2024: Action shot of the hammock (in navy) at use at my partner’s family reunion in South Dakota. My partner’s cousin John is in the hammock and has it closed around him to hide while he supervises the teenagers on the slackline.

This lovely Hammock has the straps, carbineers and a case for it to fold down into, making sleeping outside on those lovely summer nights super easy and bug free. This one is a double, so you can have two people in it or in my case, a crazy Velcro dog.

I know a lot of people have some disdain for Amazon, so in addition to the 10 items here, I always want to promote learning. Give the gift of knowledge, something that only takes up space in your nomadic traveler’s brain and can be the best gift you ever give. Gift courses from Udemy so your traveler can learn things like blogging or Cheap RV Living. Maybe they aren’t full time yet and want to be. There are courses on Project Management, Virtual Assisting, Bookkeeping and more so you can work remotely and live on the road.
